Tarpaulin Colours

Green tirpal, blue, black, white and yellow tarpaulin made to order by New Vision Tarpaulin, Delhi. What each colour is actually used for and how colour affects heat, visibility and light.

Colour on a tarpaulin is not only a preference. It changes how much heat builds under the sheet, how much light gets through, and how easily the cover is seen on a busy site. We make sheets in standard colours and to a specified shade, so it is worth choosing deliberately rather than taking whatever is in stock.

What each colour is used for

Green tarpaulin is the shade we supply most, followed by blue. Black tarpaulin is bought where light has to be blocked completely, and white tarpaulin where it does not. All of them are the same fabric and the same lamination — only the shade changes.

ColourCommonly used forWorth knowing
GreenAgriculture, nursery and garden cover, general outdoor useThe most asked-for shade in the Indian market; blends into a site rather than standing out
BlueGeneral purpose covering, transport, godown and yard useThe default across most of the trade, and usually the quickest to supply
BlackPond and water storage lining, light-blocking coverBlocks light completely; absorbs the most heat, so it runs hottest underneath
WhitePandals, canopies, anywhere light is wanted under the coverReflects heat and lets some diffused light through; shows dirt fastest
YellowActive construction sitesHigh visibility, which is why Shaktiman is supplied in yellow and blue

If you need to see through the cover rather than choose a shade for it, that is a different product — see transparent tarpaulin.

Colour and heat

A dark sheet in direct sun runs considerably hotter underneath than a light one. If the cover is over anything heat-sensitive, or over a space people work in, that matters more than the shade looking right. Black is the worst case here and white the best; green and blue sit in between.

The flip side is light. Black blocks it completely, which is exactly what you want over a water tank or anything that should not be growing algae. White lets diffused light through, which is why it is chosen for pandals and canopies where you do not want to work in the dark.

Printed and multicolour sheets

Where the cover is on show — canopies, pandals, shop fronts — New Vision is our printed multicolour sheet, built in a double-layer knitted construction that holds its shape under wind load. Screen and flexo printing is available across the range if the sheet has to carry your own branding.

Ordering a colour

Standard colours are quoted at the normal rate. A specified shade outside the standard set is priced on top of the fabric, because it means a separate production run rather than pulling from stock. Tell us the covered area and the job, and we will confirm the size, GSM and colour combination together — the three decisions are linked, and how the rate is worked out explains how.

Colour options across the range are on the tarpaulin sheets and plastic tirpal pages.
